Aims of the ISTThe International Society on Toxinology was founded to promote the science of toxinology. The Society therefore has the principal aim of fostering research and advancement of knowledge in all areas of toxinology. This primary aim is achieved by: Establishing a formal society to allow interchange of ideas and information on toxinology between its members. Promoting such interchange through regular regional and international scientific meetings. Disseminating toxinology research through the IST journal, Toxicon Developing and promoting standards for research in toxinology, particularly ethical standards for animal research. Encouraging development of research, through encouragement of research and researchers in toxinology, including new and young researchers. A reminder to all interested that the next IST meeting is the European Section Congress, to be held in Leuven, Belgium, September 7-10, 2008. This will be followed by the Asia-Pacific Section Congress in Hanoi, Vietnam, December 2-6, 2008, and then the full World Congress of the IST, in Recife, Brazil, March 15-20, 2009. This is the premiere scientific (and social) meeting for the IST, held every three years. The last IST World Congress was in Glasgow in 2006. Don't miss this major event!
