The Asia Pacific Section of the IST was founded in 1987. It encompasses loosely the many countries in the Asia Pacific region, from western Asia to Japan to Australia. Since the first meeting of this section in 1987 in Singapore, there have been regular section meetings showcasing the breadth and diversity of toxinology research in the region, reflecting the diversity and abundance of venomous and poisonous fauna in the region.

The next sectional meeting of the Asia-Pacific Section of IST will be held in Cairns, Australia, November 1-5, 2021.

The most recent Section meeting of the Asia-Pacific Section of the IST was in Changsha, China in June 2014. There were several hundred registrants from a number of countries, especially China, with a busy scientific program and interesting social functions, all coordinated by generous and welcoming Chinese hosts. A memorable and enjoyable meeting for those lucky enough to attend. Well done! The Asia-Pacific Section hosted the World Congress in Hainan, China in 2017.
