Following the distressing events of recent days and supported by advice from our Russian members, IST Council has cancelled the planned IST World Congress in St Petersburg, Russia.
The next IST World Congress is currently planned for October 16-21st, 2022, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, hosted by Amsaal Venom Farm. More information will follow.
This important meeting will be both a much needed opportunity for toxinologists from around the World to meet and interact in the spectacular and historic “Venice of the north”, St. Petersburg, but also a challenge to run because of the effects of the pandemic. We hope the meeting can be hybrid, to allow those unable to attend in person to still contribute. However, it will be very important for as many IST members and other toxinologists as possible to attend in person and IST urges all who are able to start planning now to attend. A dedicated congress website has been established, with relevant information which will be updated as new details become available. There is also a dedicated Twitter account at @ist2022. Members will understand that, unlike the pre-pandemic era, plans for congresses need to be flexible and may need to change, so the new congress website will be the important place to become aware of any changes that may develop.
This will be the very first time IST has hosted a World Congress in Russia and the IST President, Julian White, makes a plea to all IST members to support this meeting. We know Alexander Vassilevski and his colleagues in Russia will work very hard to make the congress a success, but they need your help and support. This will be a congress for all toxinologists everywhere.
Visit ist2022.com for registration and more information.
Registration fees will be lower for IST members so if you are not already a member and intend going to this congress, join the IST before you register or when registering. Following recent IST Council decisions, only current IST members will be able to present papers, except for special invited speakers.
